APPs are one of the fastest growing segments of the health care workforce, and their role in transforming care delivery is critical as health care evolves and the focus on team-based care intensifies. In many organizations, the number of APPs has sometimes grown “organically” - often one physician or surgical specialty at time. Many hospitals and health systems now employ hundreds of APPs with little to no strategy and infrastructure to support them. To tap into the full potential of APPs, leading organizations must take a step back to intentionally design their care models to better integrate, optimize and engage this increasingly important provider group.

Webinar Objectives:

  • Provide an overview of national APP workforce trends including nurse practitioners and physician assistants
  • Describe current challenges in the utilization and optimization of APPs
  • Present case studies highlighting the role of the APP in supporting surgical service line goals of increasing access, productivity and patient and provider satisfaction
  • Discuss the surgical service leader’s role in building a culture and structure to support successful integration, utilization and engagement of APPs

This webinar will be presented by Sarah Kasner, Senior Consultant at SullivanCotter and Zach Hartsell,a Principal in the APP Workforce Practice at SullivanCotter.
