We are deeply saddened to share news of the passing of Anthony “Tony” Trimarchi this morning. Tony was surrounded by his loving family and is already missed by family, friends and colleagues from around the country. Please join the AASA community in praying for his family and colleagues at this heartbreaking time.
Tony was an active member of the AASA community for over 10 years. He served on the education committee nearly every year and most recently hosted a spring retreat in 2018. Tony was the Department Administrator at Weill Cornell’s Department of Surgery for over a decade. He was previously at Washington University where he met his wife Avalon Lance who was also a member of the AASA at one time.
Tony was mentor to many as we have navigated our own academic careers but he was a friend to us all. We will fondly remember his welcoming smile, warm personality and infectious laughter. Tony was quick to help those near and far with a professional question or to simply seek you out for the opportunity to catch up.
For those of you wishing to attend ceremonies or send your condolences, we will provide an update soon.
